Purple Class

This term Year 2 have been learning about Day and Night. To start off our topic we went to the Hawk Conservancy to learn about different birds that hunt in the evening and at night. We saw a variety of owls and were lucky enough to have the opportunity to hold one.

We learnt lots of facts about the owls. they have heart shaped faces and sharp talons. They cannot move their eyes so they have to turn their whole heads instead to see any predators that might be creeping up behind them.

The Explorer Dome visited our school. Inside it looked like we were looking up at the sky at night. There were lots of different constellations made up of stars. We heard some myths and legends about how they sun came to be in the sky.

We have been studying different books by Roald Dahl and looking at how he makes his stories funny. We have written our own funny descriptions of monsters that we have painted. We used a range of materials dipping them into paint and printing on our paper to make some gruesome monsters.
