Green Class
We have been very busy yet again in Green Class. Our topic for the term is 'Imaginary Worlds'. We have been learning about creatures that live under the sea, real and imaginary pirates and outer space.
We have been working hard to use our own imaginations to describe creatures and settings in speaking and listening as well as in our story writing. We have been thinking about making our story writing interesting for the reader by using lots of describing words and thinking of an interesting problem to be solved by the character in the story. We particularly liked writing stories about pirates and our under the sea stories are great !
During the first few weeks of the term we thought about 'Under The Sea'. This gave us a chance to do lots of art. We used lots of different media; pastels, paints, charcoal and collage to make observational pictures. We wnjoyed looking closely at pictures of coral reefs, sea creatures, and looking at and touching shells. We had great fun designing and making our own aquarium too.
We have loved learning about pirates. We have spent time talking about what pirates look like, what they do and where they live. We thought of some fantastic words to describe pirates. Miss Roberts asked us to design our own pirates and they were very scary. The next morning Miss Roberts had some terrible news; the cheeky fairy put a magic spell on our pirate designs and made our pirates come to life and they escaped! We put our fantastic describing words to good use and made 'Wanted' posters to help catch the pirates before they caused havoc in the town of Andover. Thankfully, our 'Wanted' posters worked and all the pirates were returned.
We are really looking forward to Pirate Dressing Up Day and cannot wait to go on a Treasure Hunt, following the clues to find some buried treasure. 'Arrrrr!!!!!!'
